eco shoppe The mission of the new retail concept Eco Shoppe is to bring
the best eco-friendly products for healthy personal environments and everyday living to customers. Designed by Kiku Obata & Company, the new concept was first rolled out in Austin, Texas in August in a store owned and operated by The Vitamin Shoppe.

Kiku Obata & Company worked with The Vitamin Shoppe to make the 4,400-square-foot space perfectly illustrate the Eco Shoppe brand, store experience, and unique merchandise mix, which all support the goal of making green living a more engaging and uncomplicated proposition for shoppers.

Kiku Obata & Company identified multiple merchandise categories that communicate the specific benefits of a product, such as Purify & Renew, Create & Thrive, Care & Comfort, and Enrich & Delight. Eco Shoppe is expected to receive LEED certification and incorporates fixtures developed by idX Corporation, a manufacturer of consumer environments that understands sustainability and its application in design and construction.

“With the introduction of Eco Shoppe, there is now one destination delivering products, services, and education for living an eco-friendly and healthy lifestyle all in one place,” said Steve Rolfes, director of business development for idX.

A Web site compliments the brick and mortar location and features tabs that direct consumers to home, office, and garden; baby, kids, and pets; apparel and accessories; conservation;
personal care; gifts, books, and DVDs; and message boards with topics such as Healthy Aging and Ask the Herbal Pharmacist. Future plans for Eco Shoppe include a store in Walnut Creek, Calif. this fall.
